Burgmüller
Friedrich Burgmüller was born on December 6, 1806, in a small town near Cologne, Germany. He was the son of a schoolteacher and a singer. He first studied the violin, but later switched to the piano.
Burgmüller’s compositions were mostly piano pieces. He is known nowadays for his piano études for intermediate players: 25 Easy Études, Op. 100 and 12 Études, Op.105. His music was highly influential in the development of Romantic piano music.
His pieces are often fairly easy to learn, yet still, sound impressive when played well. If you’re looking for some beautiful and emotive piano music to add to your repertoire, then Burgmüller is definitely the composer for you!
